MM Rahmatullah: Bangladesh has expressed strong optimism for an early end to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, calling for lasting peace and stability to ensure the wellbeing of people across the region and beyond.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kobir made the remarks on Wednesday when Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi paid a courtesy call on him, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of issues of mutual interest and exchanged views on matters of shared concern.

Humayun Kobir underscored Bangladesh’s strong expectation that the tensions in the Middle East would subside at the earliest possible time. He stressed that continued instability in the region affects not only its people but also has wider implications for the international community.

The state minister expressed hope that lasting peace and stability would be established in the Middle East in the interest of the people of the region as well as the broader international community.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for Bangladesh and Iran to exchange views on issues of shared interest and to reaffirm the importance of peace and stability in the region.

Bangladesh has consistently advocated dialogue, peaceful settlement of disputes and respect for international law in addressing conflicts and tensions, particularly those affecting civilian populations.

The latest diplomatic engagement between Dhaka and Tehran comes as Bangladesh continues to closely follow developments in the Middle East and remains hopeful that diplomatic efforts will help ease tensions and pave the way for a durable and peaceful resolution.
