Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari briefs Jamaat Ameer on landslide situation, thanks Bangladesh for support

Diplomatic Correspondent: Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh H.E. Ghanshyam Bhandari on Thursday called on Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP at his office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

The courtesy meeting, held at 12:45 pm, took place in a cordial atmosphere. Deputy Chief of Mission of the Nepal Embassy Pratik Karki was also present.

During the meeting, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep condolences over the recent devastating natural disasters, landslides and hillslides in Nepal that have caused loss of life and widespread damage. He sought updates from the Ambassador on the latest situation and ongoing relief efforts.

Ambassador Bhandari thanked the Opposition Leader for his sympathy and prompt messages of condolence since the onset of the disaster. He briefed Dr. Rahman on Nepal’s ongoing rescue operations, the scale of destruction, and the humanitarian challenges faced by affected communities.

Responding, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, in his capacity as Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, reaffirmed the long-standing friendly ties between Bangladesh and Nepal. He assured the Ambassador that Jamaat-e-Islami stands in full solidarity with the people of Nepal and is ready to extend all possible support during this crisis.

Also present were Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman MP, the Opposition Leader’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Qasem Arman MP, and member of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee Ali Ahmad Mabrur.

Diplomatic observers note that the meeting reflects continued engagement between Nepal and Bangladesh’s political leadership beyond government channels, and underscores regional solidarity in times of natural calamity.
