| Refreshers Training on Safeguarding and PSEAH in Cox’s Bazar |

| Our correspondent:Caritas Bangladesh-Emergency Response Program (CB-ERP) organized two-day long training titled “Refreshers Training on Safeguarding and Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH)” for CCODP in partnership with Global Affairs of Canada (GAC) funded Project at RRRC Office, Cox’s Bazar, on 16 & 17 September 2026. The training was attended by 72 participants, divided into two batches, and was conducted from 8:50 AM to 5:00 PM. At the beginning of the training, the Chief Guest, Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, Additional Secretary, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) office, spoke about the history and current situation of the Rohingya community. He emphasized the importance of respecting the culture, religion, language, and identity of the Rohingya community as key elements of safeguarding. He also highlighted the importance of ensuring the personal safety and security of the Rohingya community and those engaged in supporting them. He further emphasized the principle that we should ensure that our actions do not cause harm to anyone. He called upon all organizations providing services to the Rohingya community to follow these principles and guidelines in their day-to-day work. Mr. Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan, Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (Deputy Secretary), RRRC Office, Cox’s Bazar, expressed: “We need to follow the rules and guidelines of the Government. This training is important and effective for both service providers and service recipients, as it will help us strengthen safeguarding in our work. Government norms, values and guidance play an important role in maintaining safeguarding standards. We should also maintain good personal and professional conduct, as our behaviour and personality contribute to creating a safe and respectful environment.” Also present at the training was Mr. Nausher Ibni Halim, Senior Assistant Secretary at the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC). During the training, Mr. Liton Gomes, Project Director-ERP, addressed everyone and said, “We must reflect a positive image of safeguarding through our behaviour and actions. We want to keep ourselves safe while also ensuring the safety and dignity of our Rohingya and Host Community brothers and sisters. He expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh for its support in ensuring safety security. We, Caritas Bangladesh, are committed to properly following the guidelines provided by the Government. He also expressed his sincere gratitude and thanks to the RRRC for its continued cooperation and support. He expressed his expectation that Caritas Bangladesh staff would apply the knowledge and experience gained through this training in their daily work and contribute to creating a safer, more respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone”. The training was facilitated by Technical Specialist for Gender and Inclusion, MHPSS Specialist, and HR Officer of CB-ERP. The key components of the training focused on understanding of gender perspectives and gender mainstreaming, protection mainstreaming, and disability inclusion, along with strengthening knowledge of safeguarding and PSEAH, including the six core principles of PSEAH. The training also focuses on Caritas Bangladesh’s Safeguarding Principles and Code of Conduct, standard behaviours towards children, staff responsibilities, and appropriate reporting channels for safeguarding concerns. Through this refresher training, Caritas Bangladesh reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to safeguarding, protection, and inclusion, ensuring that project staff remain equipped to uphold the safety and dignity of all individuals engaged through its programs.
