Special Correspondent: People’s Rights Party (PRP) founder and Chairman Sardar Md Abdus Sattar has expressed profound grief over the deaths of seven people in a road accident in Mymensingh and called for a thorough investigation into the incident and legal action against those responsible.
In a statement issued on Friday (October 2), Sattar conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved families and urged the authorities to determine the actual cause of the accident and take appropriate legal measures against those found responsible.
Seven passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed when a passenger bus hit the vehicle at the Gandrapa bypass area of Mymensingh city. Children were also reportedly among the victims.
Describing the incident as deeply tragic and heartbreaking, the PRP chairman said the loss of several lives in a single accident was particularly painful for the families concerned and the wider community.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and expressed sympathy to their family members. He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give the bereaved families strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Sattar stressed the need for stronger measures to prevent road crashes and save lives on the country`s roads.
He called for strict enforcement of traffic laws, effective control of vehicle speeds and greater emphasis on road safety. According to him, authorities should not limit their response to action after accidents occur; rather, the underlying causes of crashes must be identified and long-term preventive measures introduced.
The PRP chairman also urged the relevant authorities to conduct a proper investigation into the Mymensingh accident and take legal action against anyone found responsible.
He further called for appropriate compensation for the families of the victims, saying the affected families need support following the tragic loss of their loved ones.
Sattar said regular monitoring of roads, enforcement of traffic regulations, speed control and ensuring responsible behaviour by drivers were essential to reducing road fatalities.
He also stressed that effective oversight and proper implementation of existing laws could help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The Mymensingh crash has once again drawn attention to road safety, vehicle control and compliance with traffic regulations. Sattar urged the government and relevant agencies to take effective steps after investigating the incident so that similar loss of life can be avoided.
