A seminar on higher education opportunities, admission procedures and scholarship prospects in the United States was held at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) on Wednesday, aiming to provide students with practical information and guidance for pursuing academic studies in the US.

Titled “Exploring USA Higher Education Opportunities,” the seminar began at 12:00 pm at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building on the university campus.

The event was jointly organized by the Student Counseling and Guidance Office of JUST and the US Embassy in Dhaka, with support from the JUST Career Club.

JUST Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan attended the programme as the chief guest, while Treasurer Professor Dr Mohammad Faruk Hasan joined as the special guest. Dr Md Rafiul Hasan, Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Office, chaired the session.

The speakers discussed a range of issues related to pursuing higher education in the United States, including admission requirements, application procedures, academic preparation and opportunities for financial assistance. Students were also briefed on the steps they need to take when planning for higher studies in the US and on the importance of preparing well in advance.

The seminar also focused on scholarship opportunities available to international students. Participants were encouraged to gather information from reliable sources and develop a clear academic and financial plan before applying to US universities.

According to the organizers, the initiative was aimed at increasing students’ awareness of international higher education opportunities and helping them make informed decisions about studying abroad. They expressed hope that such programmes would assist students in planning their academic careers and preparing for future professional opportunities.

Students from different departments of the university who are interested in pursuing higher education in the United States attended the seminar. The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students sought clarification on admission, scholarships and other aspects of studying in the US.
