Pakistan, Bangladesh eye cooperation in e-governance, civil service training
  Date : 14-10-2026

Diplomatic Correspondent: Pakistan and Bangladesh are exploring new avenues of cooperation in civil service capacity building and e-governance, reflecting growing opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties through institutional collaboration and digital transformation.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider discussed the potential areas of cooperation during a meeting with Prime Minister’s Adviser on Public Administration Md. Ismail Zabihullah in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on capacity-building programmes for civil servants and the use of digital technologies to improve public administration and governance. The discussions highlighted opportunities for both countries to exchange knowledge, share experiences and develop institutional capabilities to make public services more efficient and accessible.
During the meeting, the Pakistani High Commissioner also briefed the adviser on the progress and trajectory of bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including education, trade and information and communication technology (ICT).
The engagement reflects Pakistan’s interest in further strengthening its relationship with Bangladesh by expanding cooperation beyond traditional areas and exploring practical initiatives that can deliver mutual benefits.
Capacity building for public officials is particularly important as both countries seek to modernise administrative systems, improve service delivery and respond to the growing demands of citizens. Cooperation in e-governance could also create opportunities to exchange expertise in digital public services, administrative innovation and technology-driven institutional development.
Education, trade and ICT remain important areas for expanding bilateral engagement. Greater collaboration in these sectors could help promote knowledge exchange, encourage business opportunities and create new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting between the Pakistani High Commissioner and the adviser underscores the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement in identifying common priorities and translating bilateral goodwill into practical cooperation.
As Bangladesh and Pakistan continue to explore opportunities for closer engagement, collaboration in public administration, digital governance, education, trade and technology could contribute to stronger institutional links and mutually beneficial relations.
The press release issued by the Pakistan High Commission on October 14 did not specify any formal agreement, funding commitment or timeline for implementing the proposed initiatives.
