During Ulanqab Inspection in Inner Mongolia, Xi Jinping Urges High-Standard Green Development
  Date : 17-10-2026

October 17: Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese President, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, inspected the city of Ulanqab in north China`s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Friday (October 16). During the inspection, he emphasized that green development constitutes an essential element of high-quality development, underscoring the imperative to balance high-quality growth with high-standard ecological and environmental protection. President Xi commenced his field inspection and research in Ulanqab on the morning of October 16.

President Xi pointed out that holistic conservation and systematic governance of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts must be reinforced. He stressed the need to synergize carbon reduction, pollution control, greening expansion, and economic growth, resolutely pursuing an ecological-first, green development trajectory.

He further noted that in wetland conservation, preserving the natural ecological character is of paramount importance. It is crucial to adhere to the philosophy of respecting, adapting to, and protecting nature. Efforts must focus on fully implementing the Wetland Protection Law, rigorously defending ecological red lines, enhancing ecosystem quality and stability, and preserving biodiversity. Regarding the rehabilitation of degraded wetland ecosystems, natural recovery should serve as the primary approach supplemented by human intervention, guided by scientific and rational methods.

Ulanqab possesses immense potential for renewable energy, notably wind and photovoltaic power. In recent years, capitalizing on its competitive advantages in green electricity, climate conditions, and geographic location, the region has achieved tangible milestones in cultivating a green computing industry.

Xi Jinping visited the Chahar High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. At an exhibition hall, he inspected the progress of building a key node for the national "Eastern Data, Western Computing" project in Inner Mongolia and reviewed developments in the green computing sector.

He underscored that advancing the "Eastern Data, Western Computing" initiative and constructing a unified national computing network represent major strategic deployments formulated by the CPC Central Committee. To this end, scientific planning, factor-based resource guarantees, and operational security must be ensured. It is vital to guarantee that completed projects operate efficiently and pipeline projects are completed as scheduled. Concurrently, efforts must be made to extend industrial and supply chains while fostering the deep integration of the digital economy with the real economy.
