A global dialogue titled "China`s Governance and Worldwide Development" was held on Tuesday (November 3, local time) in Lyon, France. The event was jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG), the Chinese Embassy in France, the Chinese Consulate General in Lyon, and the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Approximately 100 representatives from the political, business, and academic communities of both China and France attended the event to hold in-depth exchanges on China`s governance experience and the prospects for China-France cooperation.

Addressing the forum via video message, Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of CMG, noted that the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee recently concluded in Beijing. He stated that the plenum comprehensively reviewed the achievements and strategic experience of advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance in the new era, laying out systematic arrangements to sustain this endeavor.

Shen remarked that looking back over more than a century of history, the CPC`s historic accomplishments have added an illustrious chapter to the history of human political civilization. The CPC has charted two definitive paths to breaking out of the historical cycle of rise and fall in state governance: one through public supervision over the government, and the other through self-revolution. He described this as a pioneering theoretical and practical innovation by the CPC that will remain immortalized in the history of Marxist political party building.

He added that as profound, unprecedented global transformations accelerate, humanity once again stands at a historical crossroads. An increasing number of countries and political organizations are drawing insights from "China`s governance" to explore development and governance paths tailored to their respective national realities.

Shen expressed hope that this plenary session of the CPC will provide valuable strategic reference for international political party building, national governance, and global governance reform, contributing meaningful certainty to a world fraught with conflict and turbulence.

In a written address, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li stated that the successful convocation of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee offers a timely and crucial window to observe and comprehend "China`s governance." In this context, holding the French edition of the global dialogue series on "China`s Governance and Worldwide Development" was both timely and profoundly significant.

Chinese Consul General in Lyon Yu Jiang noted that the leadership of the Communist Party of China represents the core key to deciphering "China`s governance." He underscored that China`s economy sustained stable and sound momentum through the first three quarters of 2026. Substantial progress was achieved in attracting foreign direct investment into high-tech sectors, with French investment in China witnessing notable expansion.

Thomas San Marco, Vice President of the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, extended a warm welcome and expressed heartfelt gratitude to China Media Group and the Chinese Consulate General in Lyon for organizing the event. He remarked that economic and trade collaboration between France and China should not remain confined to conventional commercial transactions, but must be deepened on the basis of long-term sustainable development.

Alain Labat, Vice President of the New Franco-Chinese Institute, noted that this dialogue provides an important opportunity to bolster mutual understanding and deepen bilateral communications and exchanges between China and France.

He further observed that the scope of economic and commercial relations between Europe and China remains exceptionally vast and multifaceted, anchored in robust industrial interdependence and joint cooperation. Consequently, the potential for mutually beneficial engagement and shared growth remains vast.
