“The excuse of the ‘PR system’ will never be accepted — Aminul Haque”
  Date : 21-09-2025

Kamrul Hasan: Aminul Haque, BNP’s Central Executive Committee Secretary for Sports, Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP, and aspirant for the Dhaka-16 (Dhaner Sheesh) nomination, stated, “Those demanding the ‘PR system’ know very well that if a free and fair election is held in February, their defeat is inevitable. That is why they have presented the ‘PR system’ as an excuse to sabotage the election. However, the people of our country will in no way accept such an unrealistic and undemocratic proposal.”

He made these remarks on Sunday evening at the Shan-e-Risalat Grand Conference organized by Hefazat-e-Islam at the D-Block Eidgah Ground in Pallabi, Dhaka. The conference was presided over by Mufti Abdus Salam, General Secretary of Pallabi Thana Hefazat-e-Islam. Prominent Islamic scholars, including Khatib-e-Bangla Maulana Junaid Al Habib, Shaykhul Hadith Maulana Mamunul Haque, and Maulana Muhammad Salman Hafi, were present. Leaders of BNP at the central, district, and Dhaka Metropolitan North levels, local dignitaries, party activists, and thousands of attendees also participated.

Aminul Haque emphasized that the people of Bangladesh have earned the right to vote through immense sacrifice and patience. Yet, today, a section of self-interested groups is proposing laughable and undemocratic measures like the ‘PR system’ to divert the popular mandate. Their intent is clear — to sabotage the election.

He added, “The essence of independence and the constitution is to ensure the direct voting rights of the people. But those who fear democracy are resorting to cunning tactics. A government-backed group has been trying for a long time to control the electoral system and turn it into a farce.”

The BNP leader further stated, “BNP is the party of the people. Our movement for restoring democracy is led by the people. We will in no way accept any conspiracy to strip the people of their voting rights. If necessary, we will take to the streets again and resist these conspiracies through an unstoppable movement.”

Referring to Dhaner Sheesh as a symbol of independence and democracy, Aminul Haque said the strength of BNP lies in the people. It is through the people’s vote that the rule of the Awami fascist regime will end. Addressing the people of Dhaka-16, he urged, “In this election, the victory of Dhaner Sheesh must ensure the triumph of democracy.”

He also noted that various strategies are being employed to question the legitimacy of the election. However, he expressed confidence that the people will overcome all conspiracies and ensure the victory of Dhaner Sheesh. He called for unity within the organization, setting aside internal divisions, to fulfill the dreams of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman and to implement the 31-point state-structure reform program declared by BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

At the conclusion of his speech, Aminul Haque prayed for the recovery and good health of the country’s leader Begum Khaleda Zia and for the wellbeing and longevity of national leader Tarique Rahman.
