Elected Govt is Essential for National Stability: Muslim League
  Date : 21-09-2025

Special Correspondent: Advocate Mohsin Rashid, President of the Bangladesh Muslim League, stated that public skepticism and doubts about the upcoming election are intensifying. Therefore, it is crucial for all political parties to reach a consensus to ensure that the announced interim government can successfully conduct the elections on time without any hindrance. An elected government is now more important than ever to maintain political stability and order in the country.

He also raised concerns that differences of opinion and distancing among political parties regarding the proportional representation (PR) electoral system and the constitutional recognition of the July uprising may create an opportunity for a resurgence of a fallen fascist regime.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a joint representative meeting of the Bangladesh Muslim League’s Chattogram Metropolitan, Chattogram North, and South District branches held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 3 PM in the Engineer Abdul Khaleq Auditorium of the Chattogram Press Club.

The meeting was presided over by the party’s Metropolitan branch president, Muhammad Riazul Anwar Chowdhury Sintu. The keynote speaker was the party’s Secretary General and veteran politician Qazi Abul Khair.

In addition to making various organizational decisions, the meeting also announced parliamentary candidates for the upcoming national election: Muhammad Riazul Anwar Chowdhury Sintu, Vice President of the Central Committee and President of the Chattogram Metropolitan branch, for the Chattogram-9 constituency, and Central Vice President Faisal Chowdhury for the Cox’s Bazar Sadar constituency. Both will run under the "Hurricane Lamp" (Hariken) symbol.

The event was moderated by S.M. Abu Taleb, Mohammad Gias Uddin, and Shahena Begum Panna.
