Dengue claims 7 more lives, 860 new cases reported in 24hrs

The casualty from dengue keeps rising as a total of seven people died and 860 new cases were reported from different parts of the country in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning.

With the latest death, the fatality count from the mosquito-borne disease rose to 150 as of today from 1 January this year, according to the statistics of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Three more deaths from dengue were reported on Thursday, said the DGHS.

During the period, 860 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever and the total number of cases mounted to 29,425 this year as of today.

Besides, a total of 621 dengue patients were released from different hospitals after their complete recoveries from the disease.

Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.

The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 3, 18,749 recoveries last year.
