Martyrs, injured of uprising should be remembered forever: Nahid

(BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Adviser Md Nahid Islam today said that all should remember the martyrs and injured of the anti-discrimination student movement always.

"Let us not forget the martyrs and the injured in the anti-discrimination movement. It is our moral duty to stand by them," he said.

Nahid, also the adviser of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, came up with the remarks at a doa-mahfil and discussion organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Service Association in the meeting room of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare this afternoon marking the memories of Nasib Hasan Rian, who embraced martyrdom in the anti-discrimination movement.

Remembering all the martyrs and injured in the anti-discrimination movement, he said students participated in the movement risking their lives.

"We have fought and shed blood to build a new Bangladesh. We want to reorganize the state structure in such a way that fascism cannot return," he added.

Recalling the memories of Shaheed Nasib Hasan Rian, the adviser said, Rian had come to the street by announcing on Facebook.

Highlighting the contribution of Shaheed Rian`s father to the movement, he said many parents like his father encouraged their sons during the movement.

Emphasizing the preservation of the evidence of the anti-discrimination movement, he said, this evidence must be disseminated frequently otherwise many will forget the history of the movement.

The adviser said that the government will take responsibility of the martyrs and the injured in the anti-discrimination movement.

"Everyone should be grateful to their families who died and injured in this movement," he added.

He urged the government officials and all concerned to stand by the family members of the martyrs and injured.

With Bangladesh Secretariat Service Association Convener Abdul Khalek in the chair, the discussion was attended, among others, by Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Md Mokhlesur Rahman and Senior Secretary of the Health Services Division MA Akmal Hossain Azad.
