2 associates of ‘Karim Bahini’ held in Sundarbans
  Date : 09-05-2025

Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two associates of ‘Karim Bahini’ along with illegal arms and ammunition from the Sundarbans.

The arrested are Md. Al Amin and Rezaul Gazi Babu. They are two associated of robber gang `Karim Bahini`.

Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque confirmed the incident On Friday (April 18).

He stated that Coast Guard received a tip-off that the robber gang were staying at a area near Adachai Forest Office in the Sundarbans on Thursday night. Based on this information, a joint operation was launched in the middle of the night by members of Bangladesh Coast Guard Mongla base and the Navy.

Sensing the presence of law enforcement, the gang members fled deep into the forest. Subsequently, a combing operation was conducted in the area, during which Karim Bahini’s associate Md. Al Amin was apprehended. He was found with a single-barrel shotgun, one live round and six empty cartridges.

Based on his interrogation, another associate of the gang, Rezaul Gazi Babu, was later arrested in Khulna in a joint operation involving the police and Coast Guard.

It has been revealed that the arrested individuals have long been involved with Karim Bahini in acts of robbery and in supplying arms, ammunition and provisions to the gang.

Legal proceedings are currently underway regarding the recovered illegal arms and other seized materials, added the Commander.

The Coast Guard spokesperson further added that Bangladesh Coast Guard continues to conduct 24-hour patrols in coastal and riverside areas to maintain law and order.

Such operations will continue in the future to make the Sundarbans free of bandits, also added the Coast Guard official.
