Teacher killed in Cox`s Bazar road crash

A teacher was killed in a road accident after being hit by a covered van at Ramu upazila in Cox`s Bazar district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at Rabeta area of Khuniyapalong union on Cox`s Bazar-Teknaf highway in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Afsar, son of Ali Ahmed from Paglirbil Ward No. 2 of Haldiyapalong union in Ukhiya upazila and also an assistant teacher at Rabeta Presidential Madrasah.


According to locals, Nurul was riding his motorcycle home after finishing classes at the madrasah. On his way back to the home, a covered van hit his motorcycle.

The impact threw him away from his vehicle and caused immidiate death at the spot.

Confirning the matter, Ramu Crossing Highway Police officer-in-charge (OC) Md Nasir Uddin said that locals immediately detained the covered van after the accident but the driver somehow managed to flee.

Following the instructions of higher authorities, the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy, the OC added.
