The government today approved proposals to import one cargo of LNG and 30,000 metric tons of fertilizer to meet rising national demand.

The decision came during the 23rd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP), chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.

Petrobangla will buy LNG from Excelerate Energy LP, USA at a cost of Tk 612.54 crore, while BCIC will import urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh under the 17th lot for Tk 140.27 crore.

The committee also cleared purchase proposals from the Road Transport and Highways Division and Security Service Division.
