International Desk: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday evening awarded the Friendship Medal to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Speaking at the event, President Xi praised Vučić for his long-standing commitment to China-Serbia friendship and his active role in advancing bilateral relations.

Xi described the Serbian leader as both an active builder and a steadfast guardian of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia. He noted that on issues concerning China’s core interests and major concerns, President Vučić has consistently provided China with firm and unequivocal support, earning the respect and appreciation of the Chinese people.

The Chinese president stated that political mutual trust between the two countries remains strong, practical cooperation has produced fruitful outcomes, and the friendship between the peoples of China and Serbia has become deeply rooted in public sentiment.

Xi Jinping further emphasized that the Friendship Medal is the highest honor awarded by the People’s Republic of China to distinguished foreign individuals. According to him, the award not only recognizes President Vučić’s important contributions to China-Serbia friendship, but also reflects the sincere aspirations of both peoples to build a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era.

He remarked that the friendship between China and Serbia has been forged through “blood and fire” and has become even more valuable amid today’s turbulent international environment.

“Both the Chinese and Serbian peoples remain firmly committed to independence and self-reliance, safeguarding national dignity, and upholding international fairness and justice,” Xi said.

Receiving the medal, President Vučić expressed heartfelt gratitude to China and said he accepted the honor on behalf of the Serbian nation and its people.

He described the occasion as one of the most significant moments of his life, saying the medal represents not only his highest personal honor, but also recognition of Serbia’s pursuit of sovereignty, independence, and national development.

Vučić stated that China has always treated smaller countries with respect and has stood firmly beside the Serbian people during difficult times by supporting Serbia’s development.

“Serbia will never forget China’s support and assistance,” he said, adding that he would continue working to strengthen the building of a shared future between the two countries.
