Former Awami League lawmaker for the Dhaka-14 constituency, Sabina Akter Tuhin, was arrested on Monday morning from Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) arrested her at her village home in Sholla union of the upazila, confirmed Mohammad Robiul Hossain Bhuiyan, Joint Commissioner of DB (North), to News.
He stated that a team from the DB Wari division apprehended her based on specific allegations.
A video of Sabina Akter’s arrest has gone viral on the social media platform Facebook. In the footage, DB officers are seen facing resistance from local men and women while attempting the arrest. The local residents surround Sabina Akter, appealing for her release and claiming she is innocent. Sabina Akter is also seen requesting her supporters and the public not to obstruct the law enforcement officers.
