Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazl Md. Sanaullah has said on Thursday that the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election will be announced in the first half of December.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Election Commission’s Agargaon headquarters, Sanaullah outlined key steps in the electoral preparation process.
Voter awareness campaigns for overseas Bangladeshis will launch next month, coinciding with the finalization of the Model Code of Conduct for political parties and candidates.
For expatriate voters, postal ballots—managed by Bangladesh Post Office—will be used. The ballots will display only party symbols, not candidate names. Electronic voting machines (EVMs) will not be deployed in the upcoming election.
Eligibility to vote will be based on the voter list finalized under the Voter List Act, 2025, with October 31 as the cutoff date for registration.
Sanaullah confirmed that today’s scheduled EC meeting has been postponed, but stressed that the overall election timeline remains unchanged. “Preparations are progressing as planned. There is no delay in the roadmap,” he said.
The announcement offers clarity on the electoral timeline amid growing public and political interest. The Election Commission continues to emphasize neutrality, transparency, and inclusivity as it moves forward with preparations.
Further details on domestic voter registration, logistics, and security arrangements are expected in the coming weeks.
