Woman dies from snake bite in Patuakhali

A woman died from a snake bite in Patuakhali Sadar upazila on Thursday.

The incident took place around 10 AM at her home`s kitchen in 2nd Embankment area of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Krishna Rani Anima, 40, wife of Swapan Kumar Shil, a resident of the same area.


According to her husband, his wife was cooking in the kitchen when he heard her scream and went there.

Later, she told him a snake had bitten her. He then immediately tied a cloth above the wound and rushed her to the hospital.

Patuakhali Medical College Hospital Senior Nurse Rina Samaddar said that the snakebitepatient was brought to the hospital around 11:30 AM. They provided her with primary treatment and collected blood.

After that, Dr. Mashiur Rahman came and ordered to give her antivenom. They also applied it as well. Despite the treatment, Krishna Rani could not be saved.
