Dhaka University (DU) administration has announced that all classes and examinations will be suspended on Wednesday.
The decision was declared through a press release from the university’s Public Relations Office on Tuesday night.
Voting for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections began at 8 AM on Tuesday and continued until 4 PM.
The elections were conducted peacefully throughout the day and counting of votes is currently underway.
However, after the vote count began, the campus became tense, prompting law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents.
Eyewitnesses reported that supporters of BNP, Jamaat, and affiliated student groups started gathering on campus from the evening in anticipation of the results.
Additional security personnel have been deployed across the campus to maintain order.
