The interim government is making all-out efforts to ensure the safe and swift return of the national football team currently stranded in Nepal, following the outbreak of widespread protests and political unrest in Nepal.
According to a press release issued by Chief Adviser`s press wing on Tuesday, the team`s scheduled return flight from Tribhuvan International Airport at 3:00 PM (local time) had to be canceled due to the deteriorating situation in Kathmandu.
In response to escalating tensions, the airport authority suspended all outbound flights, forcing the players and coaching staff to remain at their team hotel.
Youth and Sports Affairs Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with senior officials from Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Youth and Sports to facilitate the team’s safe return.
Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal is also maintaining close communication with relevant authorities to assist in the process.
The government is in direct contact with the Nepalese military to ensure the team`s security, particularly in light of political developments in Nepal, including the recent resignation of the country’s Prime Minister.
Additionally, Adviser Bhuiyan has personally spoken to team captain Jamal Bhuiyan and team manager Amer Khan to inquire about the team’s condition and assure them of the government’s full support.
He reiterated that all necessary measures are being taken to bring the team back to Dhaka without further delay.
