Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh sets challenging 155-run target against Afghanistan
  Date : 16-09-2025

Bangladesh has posted a competitive total of 154 runs for loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs against Afghanistan in the third match of their Asia Cup-2025 campaign at Abu Dhabi.

After choosing to bat first, the tigers had a flying start at the powerplay, but the momentum slowed down towards the end, preventing a higher score.

However, they managed to set a target of 155 which the cricket pandits are assuming will be a challenging target for Afghanistan.

Tanzid Tamim was the standout performer for Bangladesh, scoring a well-paced 52 runs off 31 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes.

Saif Hassan, playing in place of Parvez Hossain Emon, showed promise with 30 runs from 28 balls before falling to Rashid Khan’s bowling in the seventh over.

Bangladesh managed to put up 59 runs in the first six overs of the powerplay, capitalizing on the tight bowling from Afghanistan.

Despite losing the first wicket at 63 runs, Bangladesh’s opening partnership provided a solid foundation.

After Saif’s dismissal, Liton Das entered but struggled to settle, scoring just 9 runs from 11 balls before getting out at 87 runs for the team.

Tamim remained steady on the other end until his dismissal shortly after reaching his half-century.

Later, Towhid Hridoy tried to accelerate, contributing 26 runs off 20 balls.

In the final overs, Zakir Ali and Nurul Hasan Sohon added valuable quick runs, scoring 12 each.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad took two wickets apiece, while Azmatullah Omarzai claimed one.
