Floods, landslides kill 42 in Nepal
  Date : 05-10-2025

At least 42 people died and five others are missing in Nepal following widespread floods and landslides caused by days of heavy rainfall, a government official said on Sunday.

"So far, 42 people died in rain-triggered disasters and five are missing," said Shanti Mahat, spokeswoman for Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, in a statement to AFP.

The relentless downpours have caused rivers to overflow, swept away homes, and triggered landslides in several mountainous regions of the country. Rescue operations are ongoing as authorities work to reach affected areas and search for the missing.

Nepal frequently faces such natural disasters during the monsoon season, which typically spans from June to September. The government has urged residents in high-risk zones to remain alert and follow evacuation advisories as more rain is expected in the coming days.
