Moshiur Ananda : The China Bangladesh Friendship Center (CBFC) distributed winter clothing among underprivileged residents in northeastern Bangladesh on Tuesday as part of a humanitarian initiative aimed at easing the impact of the winter cold.
The distribution took place in the Pirer Bazar area of Khadim Nagar in Sylhet district and was organized in partnership with the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation. Elderly people, women and children from cold-affected communities were among the beneficiaries, organizers said.
Md. Saddam Hossain Roni, Social Welfare Secretary of CBFC and Secretary General of the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation, attended the event and supervised the distribution on behalf of both organizations.
Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Babu, President of CBFC and the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation, said the initiative reflected the organizations’ commitment to supporting disadvantaged communities during seasonal hardships. He added that humanitarian service and social responsibility remain central to their work.
Mohammad Kamrul Hasaan, Honorary President of CBFC (Bangladesh), said such programs help strengthen people-to-people ties through practical community engagement and welfare activities.
Founded in 2019, the China Bangladesh Friendship Center works to promote friendship between the people of Bangladesh and China through community service, cultural exchange and cooperative programs. CBFC officials said similar humanitarian initiatives are planned in other parts of the country.
Local residents welcomed the support, describing it as timely assistance during the winter season.
