Police have arrested another shooter in connection with the case of killing Swechchhasebak Dal leader Azizur Rahman, alias Musabbir.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Detective Branch) Shafikul Islam confirmed the information on Friday afternoon.
The arrested individual has been identified as Rahim, and he was arrested in Narsingdi, said the DMP Additional Commissioner.
“The weapon used in the killing has also been recovered. Operations are still underway and further details will be shared at a press briefing tomorrow,” he added.
Earlier, police reported the arrest of three people in the same case. On the night of 10 January, the Detective Branch of the DMP carried out raids in different areas of Manikganj and Gazipur and detained Jinnat, 24, Abdul Qadir, 28, and Md Riaz, 32.
Musabbir was shot dead at around 8:20 PM on 7 January in front of Star Hotel, behind Bashundhara City shopping complex in the capital. Following the incident, a murder case was filed with Tejgaon police station on 8 January.
The victim’s wife, Suraiya Akter, lodged the case, naming four to five unidentified individuals as accused.
