Justice for All: IGP Vows to Probe Deaths on August 5 and Beyond
  Date : 27-03-2026

Rajshahi Bureau: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hussain Fakir has assured that all deaths, including those of police personnel, on August 5 and subsequent incidents will be investigated and prosecuted according to law. Addressing a press briefing at Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) headquarters, Fakir emphasized that every incident will be thoroughly investigated and justice will be served.

Regarding the August 5 events, Fakir stated, "Many people, including police personnel, lost their lives. Each incident will be investigated, and legal action will be taken accordingly." He highlighted the crucial role of police in maintaining law and order, claiming that the force has contributed to holding a successful election in Bangladesh`s history.

Fakir urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and maintain peace, saying, "Our youth often take to the streets and block roads, which is not right. It harms everyone." He also emphasized the need for moral improvement, citing issues like fuel crisis and black marketing.

The IGP reiterated the police force`s "zero tolerance" policy towards drug-related crimes and announced plans to transform major cities, including Dhaka, into "smart and safe cities".
