  Date : 28-04-2026

Md. Mizanur Rahman, Chapainawabganj: An incident of obstruction of official work, assault on staff, and locking of the principal’s office room occurred at Telkupi Kolomdor Alim Madrasa in Shibganj Upazila, Chapainawabganj. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mazharul Islam confirmed the matter Tuesday afternoon.

The madrasah staff has submitted a written complaint to the UNO regarding the incident. According to the complaint, the staff was performing official duties in the office room on Sunday afternoon when a group of people, including local residents Iftekhar Alam Babu, Bairul Islam, and Benjir, entered the office. They obstructed official work and assaulted the staff. At one point, they forced the employees out of the office, locked the principal’s room, and left.

Meanwhile, the staff has demanded justice for the incident. Principal Abdur Rahim said, “They created a mob and committed an injustice.” He demanded exemplary punishment for those involved.

However, Iftekhar Alam Babu denied the allegation, saying, “I did not lock the office room. Local people, angered by the principal’s irregular attendance at the madrasa, locked it.”

UNO Mazharul Islam said no one has the right to lock an educational institution and halt its normal operations. He added that the incident will be investigated and action will be taken soon.
