Humanitarian Initiative Amid Scorching Heat: Mayoral Candidate Distributes Water and Oral Saline in Manikganj
  Date : 27-04-2026

Kamrul Hasan: As an intense heatwave continues to disrupt normal life, mayoral candidate Maulana Harunur Rashid Rahmani has taken an initiative to stand beside pedestrians, students, and the general public in the Manikganj Municipality area. On his behalf, pure drinking water and oral saline have been distributed at various key points across the town, bringing immediate relief to local residents.

On Sunday (from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM), this assistance was distributed among more than a thousand people at Girls’ School Road, Government Boys’ High School Road, Khalpar Shaheed Rafiq Square, and areas adjacent to the Traffic Control Room. In the sweltering heat, exhausted pedestrians, school and college students, and children were each provided with a bottle of safe drinking water and a packet of oral saline.

According to the organizers, the initiative was undertaken to alleviate the suffering of ordinary people during the ongoing heatwave. Such efforts can play a significant role in reducing the risks of dehydration and heatstroke, particularly for those who need to go outdoors in extreme temperatures.

The program was implemented under the leadership of district Chhatra Dal leader Sohanur Rahman Sagar. Other party activists and well-wishers of Maulana Harunur Rashid Rahmani were also present at the event.

Analysts say that in an electoral context, such humanitarian initiatives can also serve as a strategy to demonstrate social responsibility and strengthen public engagement. However, for those affected by the heatwave, these efforts undoubtedly provide immediate comfort and necessary support.

Local residents believe that if such public welfare activities continue throughout the year—not just during election periods—they could have a long-term positive impact on society.
