SSC Exam Held on Wrong Question Set: Students Worried Over Results
  Date : 06-05-2026

Md. Tanju Ahmed, Raipur: Serious allegations of mismanagement have surfaced in the SSC examinations in Raipur, Lakshmipur, after 113 candidates sat for a test with the wrong question set, raising concerns over their results.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 5, at the second venue of Raipur Government Merchants Academy center. Under the Cumilla Education Board, the MCQ exam for “Bangladesh and Global Studies” for Humanities students was scheduled to use Set 3. However, Set 1 was mistakenly distributed and used.

After the matter came to light on Wednesday, May 6, the education board served a show-cause notice to the center secretary and head teacher of the school, Mostafa Faruki. He has appeared before the board to submit his response. Locals have expressed dissatisfaction that he has not yet been relieved of duty.

Examinees said they realized the mistake only after comparing questions with other students once the exam ended. Many are now under mental stress and anxiety. Candidates Millat Hossain and Sourav Hossain said, “We later understood we took the exam on the wrong set. The standard of the questions was also different.”

Terming the incident “gross negligence of duty,” Md. Kabir Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Controller of Examinations of the Cumilla Education Board, said a letter has already been sent to the directorate to take departmental action against those responsible. He assured that students’ results will not be negatively affected. The answer scripts will be evaluated based on the set they received.

Center Secretary Mostafa Faruki admitted the mistake. He said he was busy resolving CCTV-related issues before the exam when another teacher mistakenly opened the wrong question packet. According to rules, the designated set must be opened in the presence of the center secretary, but that procedure was not followed.

Upazila Secondary Education Officer Touhidul Islam said necessary action will be taken against those involved. The matter has already been discussed with the education board, and board authorities have confirmed that the examinees’ answer scripts will be accepted.

The incident has raised questions about exam center management. Stakeholders say strict monitoring and accountability are essential to prevent such negligence.
