The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi has said Bangladeshi nationals, who suffered injuries in the Malviya Nagar fire in India, are currently receiving medical treatment, while coordination and assistance efforts remain ongoing with Indian authorities.

According to the latest information provided by Indian authorities, eight Bangladeshi citizens were injured in the fire, with doctors stating the condition of three of them as critical.

The High Commission expressed deep shock over the tragic incident and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the victims, including Bangladeshi nationals and others affected, as well as their families.

It remains in close contact and coordination with relevant Indian authorities to ensure proper assistance, identification and medical support for the affected Bangladeshi citizens following the fire incident in Malviya Nagar of Delhi, the mission said.

The fire also resulted in casualties and injuries among nationals of several other countries. Two nationals from Mozambique, one from Liberia, four from Nigeria and one from Uzbekistan died in the incident.

Among the injured are two each from Nepal, Cameroon, Kenya and Kyrgyzstan, three from Liberia, one from Nigeria and three from Kazakhstan.

In total, the incident left 21 people dead and 28 injured.

Indian authorities are providing medical treatment for the injured, including Bangladeshi nationals, at different hospitals in Delhi. The High Commission said it is continuously monitoring the condition of the injured Bangladeshis.

Hospital authorities have advised relatives and visitors to avoid physical contact with patients undergoing treatment to reduce the risk of infection and ensure speedy recovery.

The advisory is being strictly followed for the safety and well-being of the patients.

The High Commission also sought prayers from the public for the quick recovery of the injured Bangladeshi citizens, saying it remains committed to providing all necessary support to those affected during this difficult time. UNB
