Lakshmipur Correspondent: The Nations Development Organisation (NDO) organised a human chain in Uttar Joypur Union of Chandraganj upazila in Lakshmipur on Tuesday to raise social awareness against eve-teasing and ensure safe movement for women and adolescent girls.

NDO Chairperson Md Jahin Uddin Babur, members Md Khairul Islam Sohag, Md Mostafa Kamal, Sujan Das, Md Fahim Muntasir Nayeem and Al Amin, along with other members and volunteers, took part in the programme.

Speakers highlighted the harmful impact of eve-teasing and called for stronger social resistance against the practice. They also urged families, educational institutions and people from all sections of society to play responsible roles in ensuring the safety of women and adolescent girls.

According to the organisation, NDO started its journey in 2013 and has been conducting various social development activities since 2015. Its initiatives include distributing iftar and food items, tree plantation drives, public awareness programmes and other humanitarian activities.

The organisation also carried out various programmes to support people affected by the 2024 floods. At present, NDO works in several areas, including education, healthcare, women’s empowerment and community development.

The organisation said it would continue various public awareness programmes in the future under the message, “Where there is eve-teasing, there must be protest.”
