Bhola Correspondent: Marking six months since the tragic murder of Liton Nayeb in Daulatkhan upazila, the victim’s family has called a press conference to protest the lack of visible progress in the judicial process and demand the apprehension of all involved perpetrators.
On Saturday (September 26), the victim’s wife, Rina Begum and his father, Harun Nayeb, addressed a press conference at the local Press Club. During the briefing, they alleged that the prime suspect, Yasmin Begum, and her associate, Shahabuddin, premeditatedly orchestrated the killing. Furthermore, they expressed grave concerns that an influential faction is actively attempting to sabotage the investigation and exert undue pressure on the investigating officer.
"Six months have elapsed without any tangible progress toward justice, and not all suspects have been brought to custody," the family stated. "We urgently demand a transparent, thorough investigation to unearth the truth behind this heinous crime and ensure the maximum legal penalty for everyone involved."
Background of the Case: According to case documentation, the incident occurred on March 13 at the Nayeb residential premises in Kalakopa village, located under Charkhlifa union in Daulatkhan upazila. The victim, 32-year-old Liton Nayeb, was reportedly killed and his body was subsequently concealed beneath sand inside an unfinished septic tank belonging to prime suspect Yasmin Begum. Law enforcement recovered the body following a tip-off.
In response to the incident, the victim`s father, Harun Nayeb, filed a formal murder charge at the Daulatkhan Police Station, naming Yasmin Begum as the primary defendant.
Providing an update on the police action, Daulatkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fakhrul Islam confirmed that the primary suspect, Yasmin Begum, alongside co-accused Shahabuddin, has been apprehended and remanded to judicial custody through the court.
The primary suspect, Yasmin Begum, is the wife of Mosleh Uddin, an expatriate residing abroad, and belongs to the same Nayeb family residing in Kalakopa village, Charkhlifa union.
