NCP withdraws expulsion order against Sarwar Tusher

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has withdrawn its expulsion order against Joint Convener Sarwar Tusher.

The decision was announced in a press release signed by the party’s Joint Member Secretary (Office), Saleh Uddin Sifat, on Saturday night (August 23).

According to the statement, Tusher was issued a show-cause notice on June 17 over allegations of moral misconduct. In response, he submitted a written explanation to the convener, member secretary, political council, and the party’s disciplinary committee through the NCP office. After reviewing his reply, the party said it decided to observe the matter closely, considering the sensitivity of women’s rights and justice, as the allegations stemmed from a private communication.

The release added that in compliance with the show-cause notice, which was based on a leaked phone conversation circulated on social media, Tusher refrained from all party activities for two months. During this period, he abstained from the July nationwide march, representing the NCP in the National Consensus Commission, presenting the party’s position in the media, attending the party’s programme in Narsingdi, and other organisational activities.

After evaluating the overall situation, his written explanation, and available evidence—and following his two-month suspension—the party withdrew the show-cause notice and reinstated Sarwar Tusher to all organisational activities.

Earlier, he had been expelled from the party over allegations of making inappropriate advances toward a female party leader.
