Chattogram Bureau: The Purity Award is given by the Ministry of Shipping to encourage the practice of purity among the officers/employees of the Ministry of Shipping and its offices/organizations. As a part of this, the Honorable Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, Rear Admiral M. Sohail, was presented with this award in recognition of his remarkable work in the financial year 2022-23 today through a casual ceremony at the Ministry of Shipping. Honorable Minister of State for Shipping M Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP presented the award. Mr. Mustafa Kamal, Hon`ble Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, other officials of the Ministry of Shipping, heads of all organizations under the Ministry of Shipping, and officers of CPA were present on the occasion.

Mr. Sohail has demonstrated efficiency at various levels in his illustrious career. He was commissioned in the executive branch of the Bangladesh Navy on 1 January 1988. After receiving the commission, he participated in various courses in the country and abroad. As an anti-submarine warfare specialist officer, he has contributed immensely to the Bangladesh Navy. He attended War Game Simulation Course from Canada, Naval Staff Course from Defense Services Command and StaffCollege, Dhaka, and Naval Staff Course from Defense Services Staff, India.

As a professional officer of the Bangladesh Navy, he held staff and directive duties at various levels. Staff Officers of Headquarters and Area Headquarters, Director, Junior Staff Course, Warfare Instructor in School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics, Directing Staff and Senior Instructor (Naval), Defense Services Command, and Staff College. He also served in the United Nations Mission in Sudan. He received the OSP and NUP medals from the Navy for outstanding performance in service.

Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail also served as the director of the Legal and Media Wing of the RAB headquarters in the elite force RAB. He was awarded the President`s Police Medal (PPM) by the Hon`ble Prime Minister of the People`s Republic of Bangladesh for his outstanding performance. Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail served as Counter Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB), Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB) at DGFI Headquarters, and Director of Submarines at Naval Headquarters. He then joined the chairmanship of Payra Port Authority and contributed greatly to the development of the port including dredging the channel of PayraPort.

Lately, Rear Admiral M. Sohail joined as the Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, the main seaport of the country on May 2, 2023, and is performing his duties efficiently.
