The Bangladesh National Women`s Football team, currently in Kathmandu to compete in the SAFF Women`s Championship 2024, held their first training session on Wednesday morning at ANFA ground.
The session, which took place from 8 am to 9:30 am, focused on tactical drills as the defending champions fine-tuned their strategies ahead of the tournament.
The seven-nation championship will kick off at the Dashrath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu on October 17, with a highly anticipated opening match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. The tournament will run until October 30.
Bangladesh, aiming to defend their 2022 title, was placed in Group A alongside India and Pakistan, while Group B features Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bhutan.
Following their training session, Bangladesh, along with the other participating teams, attended an official press conference and photo session at the Imperial Crown Hotel. Coaches and captains from all teams expressed their excitement and eagerness to perform well in this prestigious regional event.
Bangladesh`s head coach, Peter Butler, and team captain, Sabina Khatun, addressed the media, sharing their ambitions for the tournament and their commitment to defending their crown.
Bangladesh will kick off their campaign against Pakistan on October 20 at 5:45 pm and will face five-time champions India on October 23 at the same venue.
