A bank official drowned while swimming in Sunamganj`s Tanguar Haor on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Ali Hosen, an official at Janata Bank’s Corporate Branch in Dhaka.

According to police and locals, earlier in the morning, Ali Hossain, along with several other bank officials, had traveled to Tanguar Haor on a luxury houseboat from Sunamganj. Despite warnings, he went swimming without a life jacket and suddenly drowned there.

His body surfaced in the evening, and with the help of locals, the police recovered the body from the water.

Tahirpur Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Delwar Hossain confirmed the incident.
