  Date : 27-10-2024

Bangladesh has received $1.94 billion in remittances in the first 26 days of October, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) data released Sunday (October 27).

Daily remittance inflows averaged $7.497 million this October, compared to $8.016 million per day in September and $6.571 million in October last year.

The central bank data shows that six state-owned banks received $547 million in remittance, while Bangladesh Krishi Bank received $99.99 million.

The private sector accounted for the largest share, with 42 banks collectively receiving $1.296 billion, and six foreign banks processing $5.12 million from October 1 to 26.

However, nine banks reported zero remittance inflow during this period.

Meanwhile, the country received lowest remittances in July amid political turmoil. The situation, however, improved in August after the interim government took charge following a turbulent situation in the country, banking sector analysts said.
