Deposits in banking sector grew by 8.28pc in January

(BSS) - Deposits in the country`s banking sector grew by 8.28 percent in January this year, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) data released today.


Deposits grew by 7.44 percent in December 2024, after standing at 7.26 percent in September, 7.28 percent in October, and 7.46 percent in November, the data showed.

In January 2025, about Tk 2,140 crore that had been outside the banking system returned to banks. By the end of January, the total amount of money outside the bank stood at Tk 2.74 lakh crore, slightly down from Tk 2.76 lakh crore in December.
