Police recovered the body of a youth from a pond in Laxmipur Sadar Upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Rahat Hossain, 18, son of Md Ibrahim of Raipur upazila in the district. Rahat was an electrician.

According to family members, Rahat left home in the morning for work. A shopkeeper named Saddam Hossain called them to inform about Rahat’s death at around 12:45 PM.

Upon hearing the news, family rushed to the spot and found his body floating on a pond next to an under-construction building.

Later, police recovered the body after being informed by the locals.

Laxmipur Sadar Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Enamul Haque confirmed the incident and said that the body has been sent to Laxmipur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
