20 injured on Dhaka-Bhanga expressway accident
  Date : 30-08-2025

At least 20 passengers were injured in a collision involving four passenger buses on the Dhaka-Bhanga expressway at Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district.

The accident occurred around 9:30 AM on Saturday at the Panchor area and halted traffic on the Dhaka-bound lane for about an hour.

According to Shibchar Highway Police Station Sergeant Sabuj, the incident began when a Golden Line Paribahan bus, travelling from Faridpur to Dhaka, lost control and veered onto the road divider. Later, a Tungipara Express bus, about 20 yards behind, also lost control and hit the divider.

The chain reaction continued as a Narail Express bus, a short distance behind the Tungipara Express, also struck the divider. Finally, a Sakura Paribahan bus crashed into the back of the Narail Express bus, completing the four-bus pile-up.

Subsequently, fire service and highway police teams rushed to the scene to rescue the injured, who were taken to various hospitals for treatment.

Sergeant Sabuj further said that four of the injured were admitted to the hospital. The damaged buses are currently being removed from the scene to fully restore traffic flow.
