Bashundhara Kings faces FIFA ban
  Date : 30-08-2025

FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on Bashundhara Kings after the club failed to settle outstanding salaries owed to two foreign staff members, prompting formal complaints to football’s world governing body.

The affected individuals are Romanian head coach Valeri Tita and French fitness trainer Khalil Chakroun, who both served during the previous season.

They filed grievances with FIFA, alleging non-payment of wages as stipulated in their contracts.

FIFA issued a final notice to Bashundhara Kings on 27 August, directing the club to resolve the dispute by that date.

When no resolution was reached, FIFA immediately imposed a ban on player registrations and published the sanction on its official website.

The 2025–26 Bangladesh Premier League season concluded on 14 August, and the transfer window is now open.

However, due to the ban, Bashundhara Kings will be unable to register new players unless the issue is settled before the mid-season transfer window.

The sanction will remain in effect for three consecutive transfer windows, covering the current window, the upcoming mid-season window, and the next full window, effectively grounding the club’s recruitment until the matter is resolved.

The ban will be lifted only upon confirmation of full settlement.

Bashundhara Kings, five-time champions of the Bangladesh Premier League, have yet to issue a public response.

Earlier, FIFA also imposed a transfer ban on another domestic club, Fakirerpool Youngmens Club, following a similar complaint from a foreign player. However, Fakirerpool has since resolved the issue and had the ban lifted.
