DMP bans rallies near secretariat, CA’s residence

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a ban on rallies, processions, demonstrations and public gatherings around key government areas, including Secretariat and the residence of Chief Adviser.

According to a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, the restriction will take effect from Sunday (September 7) and will remain in place until further notice.

The restricted areas include the vicinity of Secretariat, Chief Adviser’s residence, Hotel Intercontinental crossing, Kakrail Mosque crossing, Mintu Road and Officer’s Club crossing.


DMP said the decision was taken under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76) to maintain public order and ensure the safety of Chief Adviser and surrounding areas.
