Sitting on Green Grass — Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Habu Sends a Different Political Message
  Date : 23-10-2025

Staff Correspondent: Is politics only about speeches, red carpets, and glittering protocols? No — politics is about being with the people, sharing in their joys and sorrows. This was exactly what was seen at a simple event held at Kewarjani Hurn Nahar High School in Manikganj. There were no luxurious chairs or strict protocols—only smiling faces, the scent of green grass, and the warmth of humanity. At the center of that heartfelt moment was Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Habu, former Organizing Secretary of the Manikganj District BNP and current member of the district convening committee. During the school’s annual prize-giving ceremony and parent assembly, he sat on the green grass under the open sky, alongside fellow leaders and activists, enjoying the program with the crowd. Someone in the audience remarked, “You don’t see scenes like this anymore! Politicians usually sit on separate chairs — but he’s right here with us, sitting on the ground, close to the people.” The photographs captured a unique moment — Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Habu sitting eagerly on the grass, watching the games and prize distribution with genuine enthusiasm. Beside him sat his childhood friend and District Jubo Dal’s Member Secretary, Tuhinur Rahman Tuhin. There was no sign of arrogance or superiority between them. Around them were leaders, colleagues, and ordinary people — all sitting together, on the same ground, as equals. It felt as though, amidst the harsh realities of politics, a small space for humanity still remained — where leadership means not authority, but companionship. That day, the school grounds turned into a festive fair. With thousands of students, parents, teachers, locals, and political leaders present, the atmosphere was filled with energy and joy. When the winning students received their awards, their parents’ faces lit up with boundless happiness. One mother, overwhelmed with emotion, said, “It’s been so long since we’ve experienced such a joyful event — my heart is full.” The school’s scout team welcomed the chief guest with a guard of honor. The field echoed with applause and fluttering flags — transforming an ordinary school event into a celebration of social unity. The chief guest of the event was Afroza Khanam Rita, Member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council and Convenor of the Manikganj District BNP. A trusted leader at the party’s policy-making level, she has consistently advocated for party unity and humane politics. In her speech, she said, “Politics means loving and respecting people. A leader should stand with the people — sharing their laughter and tears. This is the very ideal inspired by the martyred President Ziaur Rahman and carried forward by the humanitarian leader Tarique Rahman. Their organizational philosophy and visionary guidance lay the foundation for a prosperous and developed nation. Today’s event reminds us of that lesson once again.” As Afroza Khanam Rita’s compassionate voice resonated through the field, a wave of applause followed. People could feel it — politics was returning to the hands of those who truly deserved it. The event was presided over by Engineer Rashid Maimunul Islam, Chairman of the school’s governing body and Managing Director of Munno Ceramic Industries. Known for his calm, kind, and education-loving personality, his leadership made the event orderly, vibrant, and joyful. The program was conducted by the school’s head teacher, Atoar Hossain, whose lively presentation added even more enthusiasm to the event. At one point, Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Habu was seen ignoring the luxury chairs and sitting on the green grass with his fellow comrades. Some
