Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser of the interim government, has said that the national election will be held before mid-February, as the interim government is committed to conducting it, and no force can prevent it.
Speaking to reporters after a prize-giving ceremony at Noakhali Science and Technology University on Friday, Shafiqul said that political disagreements among parties are natural, but no turmoil can stop the election.
He urged patience and added that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is working for the welfare of the people, democracy, and all parties. He noted that the July Charter has already been declared and signed, several commission reports have been submitted, the economy has been stabilized, and trial processes are ongoing.
Shafiqul also mentioned that the court may announce on November 18 the dates for the trial of Sheikh Hasina, and that the interim government is addressing all pending issues.
The event, organised by the July Kanya Foundation for the Mind Bridge and Knowledge Competition, was chaired by Foundation President Jannatun Naim Promi.
Among others, NSTU Vice-Chancellor Profesor Dr. Muhammad Ismail and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ismail Hossain were present on the occasion.
