MA Mannan, Bhola: An allegation of forcibly occupying a two-storied building of three rooms built on six percent of land in front of the Kachia Union Parishad at Kunjerhat Bazar in Borhanuddin has been made against Shafizol Haque Matbar, a son of Abdul Munaf of Chardosh under Kachia Union of the same upazila.
He is accused of grabbing the land and putting up a signboard in his own name on the building.
Nizam Uddin Mahajan, a victim of Hasan Nagar Union of the upazila, said on Sunday (December 14) morning, "I took the building under construction on the said land from Md. Iqbal Hossain, a resident of Dhaka Keraniganj, and his two brothers Md. Akbar Hossain and Haji Azad Hossain, on a ten-year lease agreement from April 1, 2023, on the condition of paying 450,000 taka as a security deposit and 30,000 taka per month. I started doing development work of the building including walls, windows, shutters, floors, tiles and made the building suitable for use and doing business."
Nizam Uddin Mahajan further said, "but after the fall of the previous government on 5 October 2024, the accused Shafizl Matabbar claimed ownership of the said land and locked the house and closed my business. I kept looking for a solution to the matter. Finally, with the mediation of former MP Hafiz Ibrahim, Shafizl Matabbar returned the possession of the said building.
But less than four months later, Shafizl Matabbar occupied two rooms of the said three-room building and started collecting the rent of the two rooms. The matter was again reported to former MP Hafiz Ibrahim.
Nizamuddin Mahajan alleged that Shafizl Matabbar accepted 1 lakh 10 thousand taka in check and cash from me on the condition of relinquishing the possession of the said shop and house. Despite this, he continued to collect the rent by keeping the two rooms of the said building in his possession. In this way, Shafizl Matabbar caused me a loss of lakhs of taka.
Meanwhile, the real owner of the building and land, Iqbal Hossain, said that the documents, papers and deeds of the land are in our name. I and my two brothers filed a complaint with the office of the Superintendent of Police, Bhola on 25 June, 2025.
On the other hand, after surveillance the documents related to the land, it is seen that Safizal Matabar filed a civil case in the court of Borhanuddin Assistant Judge, claiming ownership of the land. However, the court ordered that this case should be dismissed due to the absence of the plaintiff on more than once.
