Beijing Condemns Kabul Blast, Reaffirms Anti-Terrorism Stance
  Date : 21-01-2026

International Desk: China strongly condemns and firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and supports Afghanistan and other countries in the region in their fight against terrorist violence, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

Commenting on the recent explosion in Kabul, Guo said that on Monday, January 19, an explosion occurred outside a Chinese restaurant in the Afghan capital, resulting in multiple casualties. Among the victims, one Chinese national was killed and five others were injured. The spokesperson expressed deep condolences to the victims and sympathy to the injured and their families.

Guo stated that China has lodged an urgent protest with the Afghan government, urging it to make every possible effort to treat the injured, adopt more effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, projects, and institutions in Afghanistan, and promptly investigate the incident to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He added that officials from the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan have visited the injured at hospitals. In light of the current security situation in the country, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has once again advised Chinese citizens to refrain from traveling to Afghanistan in the near future.
