Bangladesh Labour Party has formally joined Jamaat-e-Islami–led electoral alliance, bringing the coalition’s strength back to 11 parties.
The announcement was made on Saturday at a press conference held at Jamaat-e-Islami’s central office in Dhaka`s Moghbazar.
Jamaat Assistant Secretary General and National Election Management Committee Convener Maulana ATM Masum confirmed the development in presence of Labour Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran.
Earlier, Jamaat-led alliance had expanded to 11 parties, but Islami Andolan Bangladesh later withdrew following disagreements over seat sharing.
With the inclusion of Bangladesh Labour Party, the alliance has once again returned to its 11-party composition.
The alliance now includes Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan, Bangladesh Nezam-e-Islam Party, Bangladesh Development Party, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (NDP), Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), AB Party and Bangladesh Labour Party.
