Chhatra Shibir condemned gang rape of a Class VII student in Mirsarai
  Date : 02-02-2026

Desk Report: Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has strongly condemned the gang rape of a seventh-grade student in Mirsarai, Chittagong, and the brutal murder of a Hindu businesswoman in Gazipur.

In a joint statement issued on Monday (February 2), Chhatra Shibir`s central president Nurul Islam and secretary general Sibgatulullah Sibga expressed their outrage and protest.

The statement said, "A seventh-grade student was gang-raped by Imam Hosain, joint convener of Chhatra Dal`s Baraiyarhat University College branch, and his accomplices in Mirsarai, Chittagong. The student was abducted on January 26, forced to take intoxicants, and gang-raped. The family was threatened not to file a case. The main accused was arrested by police yesterday."

The statement expressed concern that BNP and its affiliates are trying to plunge the country into darkness with their terrorist activities, citing the increasing number of rapes and violence against women.

According to media reports, at least 232 people have been killed and over 87 women have been raped by BNP, Chhatra Dal, and their affiliates in the past 18 months.

The statement condemned the recent incidents of harassment and violence against women, including the brutal murder of a businesswoman in Gazipur by a Chhatra Dal leader.

The leaders demanded a thorough investigation and swift punishment for the perpetrators, saying that such heinous crimes are unacceptable in a civilized society.

They also called for unity among students, youth, and the public to resist such forces and maintain social order, warning that the trend of neo-fascist behavior and disrespect towards women is alarming and disappointing for the nation.
