Rampal Power Plant has set a new electricity generation record in April, producing more than 760 million units despite an intense heatwave and surging nationwide demand.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, the plant alone contributed over nine per cent of the country`s total electricity generation during a period marked by significant energy challenges.
The plant has been described as playing the role of a `vigilant guardian` in ensuring national energy security, particularly during peak demand conditions.
This marks the fifth time the Rampal facility has crossed the milestone of generating over 700 million units of electricity in a single month, underscoring its consistent performance and reliability.
Technologically, the plant is built using advanced ultra-supercritical technology, which enhances efficiency while reducing emissions.
It is also equipped with Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems that meet stringent environmental standards, ensuring both power generation and environmental protection.
Ramanath Pujari, Managing Director of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), said operating the plant at near full capacity during peak demand reflects its robust design and the team`s relentless efforts, calling it a `unique example of successful cooperation` between Bangladesh and India.
