  Date : 10-05-2026

Diplomatic Correspondent: The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr. Jamil Haji Ismail Al Balushi, paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. Shama Obaed Islam at her office in Dhaka on Sunday.

During the meeting, the State Minister lauded the constructive role of the Omani leadership in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East region.

Ambassador Al Balushi conveyed his government’s felicitations to the BNP-led Government of Bangladesh on its victory in the 13th Parliamentary Election.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in key areas, including economy, trade, investment, culture, and sports.

While appreciating the Government of Oman for hosting a large Bangladeshi community in the Sultanate, the State Minister reiterated Bangladesh’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal migration. She emphasized the government’s priority to send skilled and semi-skilled workers abroad so they can contribute effectively to the economies of both host countries and Bangladesh.

The State Minister also expressed appreciation for Oman’s support for Bangladesh’s candidacy in the election for the President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA81).

Both sides expressed optimism about deepening engagement between Dhaka and Muscat in the coming days.
